Since we are pretending it's September still, lets flash back to my baby turning 10 months old. It's hard to believe that he'll be turn one year soon. And I'll be honest that his birthday party is the last thing I'm thinking of. At 10 months old, Jett still has 6 teeth. In natural light we see red hair. He's got a spunky personality, loves to eat independently, holds his own bottle, still gets up once sometimes twice in the night, and loves wrestling on the floor with dad and big brother. He loves riding his rocking bull, burrowing in blankets, biting toes, watching daddy mow, and loves his taggie blankie and paci. Jett is getting closer to walking. He runs with anything he can push, zooms around furniture, climbs onto everything, and is standing more on his own. We even had a moment where this little boy played so hard, he crashed and fell asleep on the floor while playing. First kid of mine to do that. This month Jett learned how to click his tongue and clap his hands. I love watching him grow but also hate that the baby days will be over soon. Or at least some parts of the baby days.
On Monday Jett turned another month older. Can you believe this kid is 9 months old already? Each new month is bittersweet. Happy to see my littlest growing and getting bigger and learning but sad to see another month gone in a blink of eye. Each night we I rock him to sleep I kiss his fuzzy little hair and breath in all his baby smells because some day, I'm going to really miss those.
Jett at 9 months is a wild child. He's fearless and curious which is a dangerous combination. Mike and I joke thinking he's part pittbull and part monkey. He walks with a walker, climbs on just about anything he can step on or pull himself up in, loves food and biting peoples toes, and makes Elvis faces. He can do some funny faces but our favorite is the Elvis lip curl. He's a joy even though we are still working on sleeping through the night still. Someday we'll get there.
Jett has 4 teeth, blue eyes and what looks like little sprouts of red hair or at least red highlights. At his recent doctor appointment he's a petite little guy, putting him in the 19th percentile for height and 28th percentile for weight. He loves doing things independently and loves to follow people around, especially his older brother.
Other favorites include his taggie blanket or any blankets, bathrooms, stroller rides, splashing in the tub, yogurt melts, being naked, and wrestling with the boys.
Jett is 8 months old already and pretty soon he'll be turning 9 months. Where o' where is the time going? Someone asked me the other day if I've thought about his birthday yet. Excuse me? He's still a baby, and I certainly can't even think about him turning one yet. At 8 months old Jett is still waking in the night, but at least it seems to be contained to only once a night. If we're lucky like last night, he slept all the way through till 5:30 am, drank a bottle and went back to sleep. We had to wake him at 7:15am to get ready for daycare. I can handle that type of sleep schedule. Jett also is starting to eat and enjoy food, HOORAY!! Some of his favorites are the Mum Mum wafer crackers, bananas, and blue berries. He seems to do best eating independently but yet when it comes to drinking a bottle, you have to hold it.
A few weeks ago Jett popped two more teeth making the total to 4 and just this week, he started to grind his teeth. My dad just says he's sharpening them up! Jett loves his big brother. Following him around, climbing on him, playing with his toys and in his room. It sure melts my soul when I see both my boys together and the joy on Jett's face when big brother plays or reads to him. Jett's also a big fan of cords. LOVES cords, climbing on anything and even sitting in the nook under our end tables. He pulls himself up on anything or anyone. In fact, Amy our babysitter said that whenever another mom picks up their child from daycare, Jett crawls over to them and climbs up their leg so they'll pick him up. He loves attention, even strangers notice his beaming smile when someone looks or talks to him. It's still skeptical but every day more and more it looks like Jett might be turning into a red head or strawberry blonde. I love it and hope that he get a full head soon enough so we can see once and for all. Other favorites of Jett include baths, his taggie blanket, milk, sitting up in a cart all by himself, crawling into the bathroom, crawling through tunnels and chewing on necklaces.
He's a joy and we are so blessed to call him our son.
Time, SLOW DOWN! I can't help myself having mixed emotions about all these months that come and go. I'm happy that my baby boy is growing up and learning, but sad that another phase is gone and now only a memory. Jett Linus is quite the charmer with the twinkle in his eye and a smile that could light up a room. Jett loves his brother, attention from just about anyone, playing peak-a-boo, his blankie, being naked, crawling and his new fav- standing up. He's a wiggle worm with little time to sit still but all the time in the world to explore everything around him. He's fascinated with cords, necklaces, glasses, and water. He currently has two teeth on the bottom and chews on everything. Everything except for food. This little stinker is having a tough time adjusting to baby food. He will gag, cry, swat at the spoon and clench his little mouth shut. We've tried fruits, vegetables, finger foods, and puffs. All just are tolerate for a few minutes and then he wants nothing to do with it. So far if I had to say one favorite, it would be the fruit melts. They look like their made of yogurt but are not, he can independently feed himself and they melt fast in his mouth. At 7 months Jett army crawls like a baby on a mission, just learned to sit up on his own, and has been sited pulling himself up on low furniture and even couches most recently. He's still not sleeping through the night. This started at 4 months and varies. One night he sleeps til 3:00 or 4:00 the next night he's up at midnight or 1:00 and then every 3 hours. Hoping this doesn't continue much longer. We try to let him cry it out only for him to get REALLY angry and wake the whole house up. He's short and squatty, has the brightest blue eyes, a tint of red hair, and a spark of personality. He might just be our little terror on wheels. We love you Jett!
Jett turned 6 months on Sunday, Mother's Day. I had plans of taking it easy and having fun with the family. But at midnight, while still at my parents (an hour and half from home), Jett woke up burning hot. Quickly taking his temperature and giving him medicine, the thermometer read 100.3 and climbing. Luckily, I have the best mother around. She woke up as well and we spent the next hour wiping him down to get his temperature under control. I spent the next 6 hours holding him on my chest in a recliner so he could sleep and I stayed up making sure his temp didn't spike again. At 6:30 am we were back at it only this time his temp went to 100.6. A call to Nurse on Call said we were doing everything we could but since he had no other symptoms to just keep at it. Once we got his temp back down we drove home. My mother's day wasn't going as planned but that's the joy of being a mother. On his 6 month birthday, Jett experienced a terrible cold, possibly started from his two bottom teeth that have sprouted.
An extra day to recoup and we are finally seeing our happy joyful Jett again.
It's amazing what a month can do. From month 5 to month 6 Jett has learned and mastered rolling over in every direction. He's started cereal and just tonight tried squash for the first time. Jett has two teeth but I'm pretty sure more are coming. He loves to chew on Sohpie the giraffe and his pacifiers. Although we haven't accomplished sitting on our own yet, he's very close. But what he's also learned is crawling. Between rolling and army crawling this kid gets into everything and goes anywhere.
He's a joy and absolutely adores when his brother plays with him or when anyone talks to him. We can't wait to see how much he will continue to learn and grow over the next month!
On Friday our handsome, smiley, lovable Jett turned 5 months. These are the months I want to bottle up and keep forever. Jett loves attention. Loves people talking to him, playing with him, and of course chauffeuring him around so he's not left alone. His smile could light up the room, seriously, I don't think any other baby's smile can be bigger than his. And his dimples will win over any lady young or old.
At 5 months, Jett can roll over consistently from back to tummy, in fact he rarely is on his back anymore. Most of the time he gets mad being on his tummy all the time because he hasn't mastered rolling back over. I think we are getting close though, he's rolled back to tummy and then tummy to back a few times but nothing consistent.
We are also working on sitting up! A work in progress but I have a feeling we will have this mastered before 6 months. Shortly after he turned 4 months, Jett took a turn like all unpredictable babies. He stopped finishing his bottles and sleeping through the night. Not sure what all brought this on, but he's continuing to gain weight, is healthy as an ox, isn't fussy and has no issues with burning through diapers. It's very strange though because some times he finishes them and others he will leave 1 to 2 ounces left. I think because of the change in his eating habits, this caused him to get hungry in the night and wake up. So we are no longer sleeping through the night anymore. Now at 5 months he gets up to eat once in the night but can whine an additional 2-3 times for his pacifier. There's no teeth yet, but with the combination of appetite change, constantly chewing on his fingers ALL THE TIME, and stinky #2s, I have a feeling teeth will be popping up soon. Jett's personality is also developing more. When he's angry he scrunches his nose and starts to snuff and snort. When he's happy and content he "talks" loudly. And if you want him to giggle you just have to tickle him. He's very ticklish so we tickle him all the time just to hear the wonderful baby giggles.
His attentiveness and eye sight are advancing as well. He loves to grab for toys and play with his older brother. It won't be long and Jett will be Sullivan's little shadow. It's quite adorable when Sullivan talks and sings to him, Jett listens and smiles to every word. I can already tell he thinks of the world about his older brother.
Jett is our little baby bear. If your hands are near his, he will grab on and not let go and if you give him something to hold it goes straight in the mouth. We love watching you grow sweet boy!
Today our little Jett boy turns 4 months!! So crazy how fast time is going. This by far is my favorite stage. He's still a baby, still can't move just yet, but his personality is starting to shine and he's just so fun. At 4 months, Jett:
drinks about 5 ounces ever 3 hours (although most recently he's being a little selective on his milk)
sleeps from 8 :15pm to 6:15am
Has rolled over a couple of times but we're still waiting for it to be a regular occurrence (almost there!)
Loves when he gets attention and people talk to him
Talks up a storm
Chews on his hands like crazy
No teeth
Loves stroller rides & baths
Hates getting nails clipped or when left alone too long by himself in a room
Jett is such a happy little boy and his smile is contagious and makes any day a little brighter. Last I knew he weighed in around 14 pounds but we are waiting for his 4 month check up to update his chart. Sullivan and Jett's friendship is growing. Most recently Sullivan pushes him around the house into his room so Jett can watch him play and I even caught Sullivan "reading" to Jett. I can already tell they will be the best of friends and in no time inseparable.
He is such a blessing to us. We can't thank God enough for the amazing gift of being his parents.
