2 weeks old

Time sure is flying by..... Sullivan is growing and changing and my maternity leave is getting shorter. I'm already dreading having to go back to work.

This past Friday Sullivan turned two weeks old. Mike and I already are noticing changes. He's becoming more alert when he's awake, staying awake longer, and the list of facial expressions is getting bigger. We love him so much!

So far Sullivan has been such a great baby. Nights usually consist of getting up about every 3 hours. He feeds for about 30 minutes a time and then heads back to sleep. During the day he averages about the same, sometime a little less.

On Thursday, Sullivan and I went to his 2 week check up. He is doing very well. He weighs 7 lbs 15 oz and is 20 7/8 in long. He got a little shorter only because when he was born he had a little cone head.

Today we attempted our first church service since he was born. After 3 outfit changes and a full belly we were out the door. Sullivan was wide awake which made me nervous he was going to fuss. First 15 minutes into service and he still was awake and got the hiccups. Usually when he gets hiccups he gets fussy (I would too if I couldn't get rid of them). All went well though, no fuss, pacifier in the mouth and he slept through the rest of church!

Here's what he's looking like at two weeks old.

Our Baby Boy has finally arrived!!

Well, I've been MIA from my blog lately but that is because we had our baby.

As stubborn as our little boy was, Mike and I were to report to the hospital on Wednesday, July 4th at 6 pm. I was admitted and then the doctor started cervidil. This form of induction is used to soften and ripen the cervix. It stayed inside my body for 12 hours. The next morning it was removed and Pitocin was started around 8 am. Here's picture of me after being admitted.

It was a long process and a little scary in the end but our little boy finally arrived safe and healthy on Friday, July 6th at 4:11 am. Sullivan Lorimer Nelson stole our hearts from the moment we heard his first cry. He weighed 7 lb 14 oz and 21 3/4 in long. Both Mike and I are shocked at this little string bean. We can't believe how long he is!!

He is perfect in every way and we feel so blessed God has gave us this miracle. We are so grateful for his health and all the prayers everyone has said for us. Sullivan has been doing great since we got home on Sunday afternoon. He sleeps and eats very well. In fact a couple of nights ago we even had a 5 hour stretch!

Mike has downloaded some pictures of Sullivan's first couple of days onto his flickr website.  The hospital offers a professional photographer to come to your room the day after your baby is born.

There will be many more pictures to come, Mike is constantly snapping shots of our boy. Just click on this link to view them! http://www.flickr.com/photos/artisagoodthing/sets/72157630468313660/with/7522555802/
