Special Helper

On Monday, Sullivan was chosen to be the special helper at school. He brought snacks for his class, helped the teacher with passing things out, and shared with his friends a little about himself. He came home happy and loving life!

Sullivan is adjusting to school pretty well. The hardest part yet is adjusting to no naps on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. In turn, he wants to go to bed early and tries to get up really REALLY early. We're talking anywhere from 4:30 to 5:30 in the morning! And this momma is not having it. I'm half temped to buy one of those clocks off amazon that changes color at a set time. This color change allows kids to recognize times of day and most important the color change means when it's acceptable to get out of bed. We will see how this week goes..

Sullivan is also finally warming up to his classmates and new friends at daycare. He's opening up to sharing more about his day, and sings songs that they sing at school. So far he's told me that his favorite new friend is a little boy named Charlie and that he loves his preschool teacher, Mrs. Lawler.

I'm so anxious and curious to see how much he will grow from beginning to end of the school year, especially with the new role of being a big brother.

6 more weeks to go!

This weekend I made it to 34 weeks. With 6-7 weeks to go, I can't believe our little boy will be here in a blink of an eye. For the most part, things are ready. This weekend I washed the car seat, my bag is 90% packed and we are just finishing the details of the nursery. I also purchased a rock n play, similar to a bassinet for the baby to be in our room. This is more compact than our pack n play we had for Sullivan. Next week we have our last ultrasound. This will be the last time we see our bug before we are holding him in our arms.

At 34 weeks the baby is just getting bigger, and strengthening his lungs. The articles say he's the size of a cantaloupe.

Mike has one more Red Piglet show this weekend and then hopefully we can find some time to spoil our only child (for now) with some one on one time and maybe a special weekend trip.

Loving cool fall days, and hoping our 80 degree days are over soon. This momma loves fall!! My favorite season of the year.

New Room

We've been working on Sullivan's room since this summer. Before he turned 3 we got a new, way cool, tent bed from Ikea. Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE Ikea?! I'm pretty sure if shipping wasn't outrageous and Ikea was closer, I'd have a serious shopping problem there. I usually try to make it to Ikea at least once a year. Spending a couple hours in the store in so easy to do and I end up leaving with at least one good find.

So with the new bed and the decision to change rooms, we transitioned our little boy into one of 3 major events for his 2015 year. This year, Sullivan got a new room, new place to go to for school and daycare and pretty soon, he'll be a big brother. So far things are transitioning well.

We left the color of the walls the same, the perfect soft gray, and accented with some vibrant colors of blues, greens, and purple. His bed not only has a tent but underneath we created a reading nook. Also in his room is his table and chairs from Santa. He loves to color and do crafts and someday maybe even a little homework. The built in shelves are filled with books, special animals and trucks, along with his favorite board games. We moved all of his toys into his room after separating the baby toys and cleaning out some for donation. It's amazing how in 3 short years, just how many toys kids accumulate. I'm already telling family NO MORE TOYS!!

We also added a tall 6 cube shelf that serves as a night stand and more toy storage. Sullivan loves his room and I love how everything has a home. My rule is he can take toys out of his room, but every night they must be put back.

The hardest part was the details, what to put on the walls. So we added a mirror to help him dress independently, reused the letter "S" from his previous room and just repainted it. Added another shelf with more animals (the kid loves animals) and finally found a home for a one of a kind painting made by his daddy.

I think it's the perfect little boy's room. Stay tuned for Baby Boy's room soon...

32 Weeks

On Saturday, Labor Day weekend, I hit the 32 week mark. With 8 more weeks to go- this is an even faster pregnancy. Luckily we've made progress in the last couple of weeks so I'm feeling more prepared.

So far we have bedding, clothing, diapers, bottles, nursing supplies, wipes, and the start of my hospital bag all done. Babies room is rounding the finish line to being complete, as well as Sullivan's room. Sullivan's room has been 90% complete for a while now, but I'm still searching for the final touches and decor. Thank goodness we are almost there for both.

September also marks the farmers markets wrapping up so soon enough Mike will be home on the weekends again. I'm definitely looking forward to this month being done, and I know it will go fast. Lots going on for Mike's schedule, my work, and completing the prep work for baby. October will be slower, "hopefully" cooler, colors will be changing, and I can look forward to some meal prepping. Then baby will be here!! I get butterflies talking about the baby being here, it's both exciting and nervous.

At 32 weeks baby is still growing, and the doctors say he's going to be big. My phone app says baby is the size of a small pumpkin or gourd, but at my appointment last week they estimate him at 4 pounds 12 ounces. This puts him in about the 80-90th percentile! Measuring just a week ahead of schedule. All these things sounds just like his brother. Sullivan was always measuring big and ahead of schedule. I wonder if this means I'll go past 41 weeks and he'll be a little stickler when induction day rolls around??

We are all so excited to meet him! Questions of what his hair color will be, if he'll even have hair. Wondering what his permanent eye color will be, or if he'll get the Sabelka chin. Right now we have about 4 names in the running with one Mike's leaning towards and I just can't seem to settle on one. Guess we you will have to wait till his birthday!
