This kid cracks me up!

So I have a small addiction......it's video taping my son! He seems to be learning new things and changing like crazy. Video tapping these moments is a way for me to archive all the little milestones so that someday, Mike, Sullivan and I can look back at them. As Sullivan is getting older and bigger his personality is getting more and more apparent. He is a spunky, independent, demanding, cuddle bug at night and curious george by day little lover that has a smile to melt anyone's heart.

Just like any other night, Sullivan was playing in his jumperoo after he gets done eating his dinner while Mike and I eat ours. For some reason I thought of the idea of putting him in the jumperoo thinking this would be a little more calmer for him after he just ate a big meal. I didn't want him to sit or lay on the floor thinking that may result in him puking all over. As you can see in the video, I don't think he's playing too calmly. In fact every time he's in this jumperoo this is what he does.

Jabbering Sullivan

This past weekend Sullivan has been really talkative. He is learning his babas, dadas, raras. I love the way his little chubby cheeks bounce up and down. Now if only he would say mama.

We also went back to my parents to visit. We haven't been back since Christmas and it was a nice little getaway. Sullivan had plans to be an early riser both on Saturday and Sunday. Here's a couple of shots during our am playtime.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day to you and your sweetie(s). We had a wonderful day celebrating. Sullivan enjoyed the day with his friends at daycare and they all loved his valentines. This evening we came home, ate pizza and scratch cupcakes and opened presents.

It's hard to believe one year ago Mike and I were not only celebrating Valentine's Day, but also the news that we were going to have a baby boy. Yes, I was 20 weeks pregnant last year. The little person growing inside me is now a healthy, happy 7 month old. Our little Sullivan is such a blessing. I look forward to many more Valentine's Days with my two sweethearts.

Weekend Recap and V-day Treats

Sullivan will be celebrating his first Valentine's Day in two days. In preparation for "love" day, we made treats for his teachers and friends at daycare. I think for the first couple of years I will be more excited about Valentine's Day than Sullivan. I love creating valentines for special people. My ideas for this year's treats were found from pinterest.

I "chews" you, for all his friends at daycare. I loved this ideas because he is in the infant room and I wanted something for them to enjoy since they are not old enough for candy or treats.

To a Pop-pop-popular teacher. Love this idea as well. I'm sure all his teachers will love it to. It's a popcorn container with a package of bubblegum, bag of popcorn and a soda pop, strawberry crush:)

I spent the weekend, with the help of Mike, making these Valentine's and preparing meals. I love prepping ahead of time, it not only gives me more time on the weekday nights to spend with Sullivan, it also is easier with clean up and getting food on the table before 7:00.

I am getting pretty good at using my babyfood maker. I made a batch of organic butternut squash, organic chicken with rosemary, spinach, and green beans. This kid loves his meats. He actually cries so hard at night when the turkey or chicken is all gone that tears run down his chubby cheeks. The chicken rosemary is his favorite. The green beans....well.....not so much. I tried to go the easy way out and use a bag of frozen green beans. We tried them tonight and he pretty much gag them down. I bet fresh or canned green beans would be better. I am collecting quite the stash of food for him in my freezer.

Professional Photos

A couple of weeks ago, Mike, Sullivan and I headed to Parkersburg for some family photos and Sullivan's 6 month photo shoot. We couldn't wait to see what Laura from Posing Willows had in store for us. Boy did she not disappoint! Our pictures turned out so good, we love them and plan to return when Sullivan turns 1. Here's a look at some of the photos from that day....

7 months old

Today Sullivan turned 7 months old. Before we know it, we will be celebrating his first birthday. Where does the time go?

Sullivan is such a happy little boy who has brought so much joy in our lives. I couldn't imagine what life would be like without him.

Here's a look at what Sullivan is doing at 7 months old:
* Eating cereal morning and night along with baby food. So far he loves chicken, turkey and peas. We tried peas for the first time tonight and although he loves his homemade turkey the best he still said "mmm." Hopefully this weekend I will be able to whip up more homemade foods. I would like to do homemade chicken, beef, and some green vegetables.
* Sleeping from 7:30 pm to 6:30 am
* Drinks 3-5 1/2 oz bottles at daycare everyday
* takes 2-3 naps a day usually 30 to 45 minutes long
* scoots like an inch worm
* rolls faster than you can blink an eye
* splashes in the tub
* loves when you sing to him
* loves his paci and "bennie" his blanket

We are still working on sitting by ourself, crawling (but we are getting close with both!), and working on getting our first tooth in. So far nothing but we chew on everything and I can feel the bump when he lets me put my finger in his mouth.

Happy 7 months old my boy! Mommy and Daddy love you...

Scooting and homemade baby food

What a weekend! This has been such a nice weekend and a busy one too. On Friday, my friend, Allison and I headed to Cedar Rapids to meet another friend, Lindsey for dinner. So great catching up with these ladies. At times I was laughing so hard I nearly peed my pants!

On Saturday we woke up late, hurried to clean the driveway off from the nightly dusting of more snow as well as clean the house all before my parents, sister and her two boys arrived. We all had lunch and then us ladies with the kids did a little shopping while Mike and my dad went to Menards. That evening after the family left we decided to have some friends over for a casual dinner. We had such a good time but boy were the Nelsons tuckered out by the end of the night.

This morning after church the boys settled in for a nap while I got busy making a couple of meals for the week, football food for tonight's Super Bowl, and turkey for some homemade baby food. Sullivan has been enjoying cereal as well as chicken and now turkey. I decided today's the day to whip out my baby food maker and give it a go. I bought a turkey breast fillet for about $3.00, cooked it in the oven and  then pureed it in my baby food maker. I love this tool and cannot wait to make more goods in it. This machine can cook/steam the food right in it and then puree them to be creamy smooth or somewhat chunky for when we start introducing texture.

Another exciting milestone happened today as well. Sullivan is officially on the move.....we've got a scooter!! Yes, we have been noticing off and on now that he will try to scoot towards something he wants but usually he does one move and then gets frustrated. Well today's the day! He saw the maraca, wanted it and decided to scoot his little self to it. Once he got there he decided to roll over and give it a shake.

Our little boy is growing way too fast. Guess I better start Sullivan-proofing the house. Nothing is safe now.
