One Busy Memorial Day Weekend

This Iowa weather has been so refreshing and has everyone in a good mood. Sullivan loves spending time outdoors so every night we usually have to beg him to come inside!
I took off the Friday before Memorial Day to get things done around the house. We have lots of projects going on and there always seems to be more home improvements than time in a day or weekend. Friday was the perfect day to scratch a couple of things off the list. After Mike and Sullivan left for work and daycare I hopped to it. I started at 7:30 and worked straight through until 4:30. What did I all get done? Well I painted the guest bedroom and back entryway/laundry room, put everything back in order and cleaned the entire house. So with two more rooms done, that leaves the kitchen, hallways and main bath left on my painting list.

Here are my after pictures (sorry no before pics were taken). The back entryway/laundry room is blue and the guest bedroom is gray.

We didn't stop there with our hardwork. After a short trip back home for a graduation party, we were back at it on Sunday. Next on the list was yard work. We have a lot we want to get done this summer, we started by taking out a rock planter by our back patio and are in the process of transforming it into our garden area. Mike did a great job! We just need to fill it with our vegetable plants, and watch them grow to enjoy fresh produce all summer. More to come on that later.

We also bought Sullivan an outdoor climber. Since he loves the outdoors, we want to utilize our fenced in backyard rather than him always playing in the front of the house. This seemed like the perfect toy. I've had my eye on this for a while and we ended up scoring a great deal. While Sullivan was napping on Sunday, Mike and I assembled it. Sullivan's face and reaction when he woke up and took him out to play was priceless. Two thumbs up here!

A Day for Mother's

Today is a day to celebrate the special mothers in our lives. Whether it be your mother, mother-in-law, step mother, sister, sister-in-law, grandma, great grandma, wife, friend or any mother-to-be; hopefully you showered them with love and appreciation. We say every day should be a day to give thanks and to show someone you care but the truth is, it's pretty nice having these extra special days like Mother's Day. I'm so thankful for all the mothers in my live. My mother, my sisters, my grandmother, friends and mother-in-law have all played a special role in my life as I learned to become a mother myself. I'm so grateful to have such amazing women to go to and to hand down family traditions and values.

This weekend Sullivan and I traveled back home for a high school friend's bridal shower and bachlorette party. It was great seeing people I do not see enough. It also was nice to be home and spend Mother's day with my mother and sisters. We celebrated by going out to dinner at Teluwut in Cresco and then a little get together at mom and dad's.

My Mother's day was perfect. We got home still early on Sunday morning and I spent the day with my two loves. We ran some errands, played outside, watched a movie and all took a nap. A perfect Mother's day it was!
