Thankful on Thanksgiving

So much to be thankful for everyday. This Thanksgiving was so nice! We celebrated the day back home with my family at my brother and sister-in-law's house. We celebrated not only Thanksgiving but two of my nephews' birthdays. Friday was back to work and then Holiday Hoopla on Main Street, Cedar Falls. This was our first year. Last year we checked it out but never made it to see Santa arrive. This year though, was well worth the wait and cold weather. Sullivan loved see Santa arrive. Every year Santa comes to Cedar Falls in something new. He's done fire trucks, repelling from the rooftop, and a police car but this year he came to town in balloons.

Saturday was another wonderful Thanksgiving with Mike's parents. I hosted the meal and everything turned out perfect. We had such a wonderful time with them. Sullivan sure loved his grandma playing with him and reading stories!

The weeks are busy as year end is wrapping up! Stay tuned for more fun events happening in the Nelson household!

Tis the season!

We've been busy gearing up for the holidays! Our tree and Christmas decorations have been up for over a week, most of my Christmas shopping is done and wrapped, and we are working on Christmas cards. I'm not forgetting about Thanksgiving, I'm just soaking up all that this fast season can give me.

This past weekend my little family of three spent some time together. We did some shopping, rode the carousel in the mall, ate out lunch at Noodles & Company, played toys (including this awesome barn we've had in storage), built tents, read books, and made a snow globe. Mike's parents bought this barn long ago with intentions of a possible son of his to play with. Fast forward 15-20 years later, and our little Sullivan is loving life with his big red barn.

For the past month, Sullivan has been ecstatic about Santa. He loves seeing Santa signs and figurines in stores, on TV, pretty much anywhere he spots the jolly fella he's screaming "Santa Mommy, Santa!" I can't wait to see his reaction when he meets the big guy next month. I'm sure he might rethink his excitement.

With that being said, take time over Thanksgiving to say a few prayers. Prayers of thanks for all that you have in this wonderful life, prayers for all those suffering and not with their loved ones over the holidays, and prayers for an easy winter. I do like the white stuff, but would much rather have it fall gently and not is large consumptions.

For instructions on how to make a snow globe. Click on this link. **after making this I would fill water all the way to the top of the globe, and seal the pluge with a sealant, not hot glue. Otherwise, it turned out awesome!

All in 8 days

Let's see in the last 8 days we've seen an Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT) specialist for inquire about Sullivan getting tubes. This appointment took place last Tuesday afternoon. Then last Friday Sullivan went in for his 2nd surgery of the year, which was for tubes in both ears. On Saturday we headed back home to celebrate my parents' 40th wedding anniversary. This evening was great and spent going out to dinner and then cake and some fun at my sister's house. Sunday was spent getting some projects done around my parents house. Tuesday gave us our first snow fall on the season, and now that leads us up to tonight. The temperatures are dropping, snow flurries come and go and I'm already seeing Christmas lights up and lit.

Hoping to end 2014 with good health and less visits to the doctors than what we've had these last couple of months.
