Finishing up with back posts in September and wrapping up our final memories of summer. We had so much fun playing in our pool, playing board games, building forts and playing in laundry baskets.
We finished summer fun by heading back to the Mississippi River Museum
in Dubuque. It been a few years since our first trip. Sullivan was
really young back then. This time he was thrilled be heading back as
they had a dinosaur exhibit. Before seeing the dinosaurs though, we checked out a little history on the Mississippi River, petted some baby sting rays and saw other fish and reptiles.
When it came time for the dinosaurs, Sullivan was adamant they were real. The whole way through the exhibit he would point to one and say, "There's another real one." The exhibit was very cool, the dinosaurs were life size and had a real look to them. They moved and made noises. I was worried Jett or even Sullivan might get scared but they both held through and no tears.
We had a blast! Sad to see summer end but ready for all things fall. Fall is by far my favorite season.
Since we are pretending it's September still, lets flash back to my baby turning 10 months old. It's hard to believe that he'll be turn one year soon. And I'll be honest that his birthday party is the last thing I'm thinking of. At 10 months old, Jett still has 6 teeth. In natural light we see red hair. He's got a spunky personality, loves to eat independently, holds his own bottle, still gets up once sometimes twice in the night, and loves wrestling on the floor with dad and big brother. He loves riding his rocking bull, burrowing in blankets, biting toes, watching daddy mow, and loves his taggie blankie and paci. Jett is getting closer to walking. He runs with anything he can push, zooms around furniture, climbs onto everything, and is standing more on his own. We even had a moment where this little boy played so hard, he crashed and fell asleep on the floor while playing. First kid of mine to do that. This month Jett learned how to click his tongue and clap his hands. I love watching him grow but also hate that the baby days will be over soon. Or at least some parts of the baby days.
Lets flash back to summer. Where has the last month gone? Life is pretty hectic right now, so I will be pretending it's September rather than October. Flash back to summer fun... My birthday weekend, spent with the boys taking out first trip out to the Cedar Valley Arboretum. This was so much fun! Sullivan loved hunting for gnomes and seeing the beautiful Koi ponds. Jett was also entertained with having more than enough to look at.
Some Cabin Coffee, Scratch Cupcakes and an evening alone with Mike eating crab makes the birthday celebrations complete. It's not about the gifts but the people you celebrate with. And there is no other 3 I'd like to celebrate with more than my boys. Life is good.
We are about halfway done with our first full week of school. Sullivan is still attending the same place but in a different class. From what I've heard from him, is he loves school and only has one boy from last year in his class this year. Our morning routines are going well, unlike last year it took him a while to adjust. I can't wait to see what he all learns this year and to see how mature he gets.
On Monday Jett turned another month older. Can you believe this kid is 9 months old already? Each new month is bittersweet. Happy to see my littlest growing and getting bigger and learning but sad to see another month gone in a blink of eye. Each night we I rock him to sleep I kiss his fuzzy little hair and breath in all his baby smells because some day, I'm going to really miss those.
Jett at 9 months is a wild child. He's fearless and curious which is a dangerous combination. Mike and I joke thinking he's part pittbull and part monkey. He walks with a walker, climbs on just about anything he can step on or pull himself up in, loves food and biting peoples toes, and makes Elvis faces. He can do some funny faces but our favorite is the Elvis lip curl. He's a joy even though we are still working on sleeping through the night still. Someday we'll get there.
Jett has 4 teeth, blue eyes and what looks like little sprouts of red hair or at least red highlights. At his recent doctor appointment he's a petite little guy, putting him in the 19th percentile for height and 28th percentile for weight. He loves doing things independently and loves to follow people around, especially his older brother.
Other favorites include his taggie blanket or any blankets, bathrooms, stroller rides, splashing in the tub, yogurt melts, being naked, and wrestling with the boys.
