This weekend we had the Merrill boys overnight so my sister and her husband could get a way and enjoy some time together. It's my brother-in-law's 40th today so a special celebration just them was the perfect birthday present. I didn't mind one bit that we had two extra boys in our house and Sullivan was giddy all day on Friday anticipating their arrival.
We had so much fun from treating them to their first Chuck E Cheese trip to frozen yogurt, dinosaur chicken nuggets and ending the evening with a slumber party on our new hide a bed couch watching Inside Out.
Saturday was perfect including the weather. Mother nature gave us a glimpse of Spring and it seemed everyone was loving it. It also was the day everyone was washing their car at the car wash! While I was out and about with Sullivan and his cousins, Mike stayed home with Jett and they enjoyed a hour walk around Cedar Falls. Seems to me that Jett will love the outdoors just as much as his older brother.
It's perfect weekends like this that fill my happy tank up in preparation for a busy work week and busy first of the month.

Sweet Valentines
Like tradition, I have always taken a photo of Sullivan for Valentine's. Call it my little mini photo session. This year is another year, but with a new little brother in the mix. Trust me it isn't easy to get them two to look my way at the same time, much less smile.
So on this Valentine's day, I get the joy of being with three amazing boys in my life. A fresh blanket of snow outside, warm blankets and a clean house we are all snuggled in to watch new Scooby-Doo seasons and play Hi-Ho Cherrio along with baby snuggles from Jett. Sounds like my favorite day!
Life is pretty perfect today. Happy Valentine's!

3 months
Our little Jett turned 3 months old today! Slow down baby boy, time is just flying by. I love the baby stage, especially 3 months because his personality is coming out.
At 3 months, our Jett is sleeping through the night. He goes down at about 8:30 and sleeps until about 6:30. Couldn't ask for anything better than that! He loves attention, loves to smile and coo and loves his play mat. He's still sleeping in his rock and play, but he's moved into his own room.
Jett loves his bumpo seat and one of his newest "tricks" is sucking his bottom lip. Cutest thing ever!!
I love this little boy so much and couldn't ask for a better fit into our family.

Do you want to build a snowman?
Today was a beautiful day. This past week we got more snow and today reached into the 40s. The sun was shining and the snow was perfect to build a snowman.
While Jett and I ran a few errands, Mike and Sullivan bonded outdoors. Sullivan loves the snow, loves the outdoors and loves his daddy! Here's their creation using our recycling and extra winter gear.

Chuck e Cheese
While Mike's family was out and about, I took the boys to Chuck e Cheese to have some fun. Sullivan was getting stir crazy and since I had the day off, I thought why not. This is probably Sullivan's favorite place and if he had the choice, would go every weekend. In fact, the next day he wanted to go again.
I remember (pre-kids) I swore I'd NEVER take my kids to Chuck e Cheese. I still cringe a little but luckily the two times I've been there, they've been on a weekday afternoon when it's fairly quiet.
Sullivan loves the games and loves collecting his tickets. This time around we even got a little competitive. I decided to get in on the games and challenge him to see who'd get the most tickets. And in case you're wondering, no I didn't let him win!

Cali girls in town
Last week, we had visitors. On Wednesday evening, Mike's sister and her two girls from California came to Iowa to visit us. It's been 3 years since we've seen Kelly and 5 years since the girls came back for our wedding. The girls have grown so much since we last seen them. Sullivan was anxiously awaiting their arrival. He was so excited to meet his cousin's Alex and Jane. They were all equally excited to see Sullivan and meet their newest cousin Jett.
Their trip here was fun, they got to go sledding and shopping, spent hours playing in the snow several times a day. They also got introduced to Scratch cupcakes and Godfather's taco pizza. They played hide and go seek and built forts, the girls also took turns holding Jett and even feeding him a bottle. Of course like all good vacations, it went too fast and Saturday afternoon rolled around meaning it was time to say good-bye.
We had a lovely visit and can't wait to see them again soon!
