Birthday Video

After a battle with the computer and our flip video camera I finally have the video of Asher and Sullivan's birthday party. Great news considering I thought I erased it while trying to upload. Enjoy!

Pool time

We've been having hot hot days since the 4th of July. The humidity has been pretty rough on us and the air conditioner is running nonstop. With all this warm weather I figured it would be a perfect time to bring out the pool.

I got a mini pool for Sullivan a while back for a couple of bucks at Target. Mike blew it up, I filled it and away we went. Sullivan loves water, loves drinking it, love bathing in it and loves splashing in it.

I thought this would be a for sure winner. He loved watching us fill it but it seems it took longer to fill it than he really wanted to play in it. I think maybe it was the slight wind towards the end of the evening, or at least I like to think that was the reason he didn't care for it. Anyways, before we finished I could resist snapping a couple of pictures of our first pool time.

P.S. doesn't he look so much like a Sabelka in this last picture with Mike. :)

Birthday party fun!

My sister has a little boy, Asher who was born on July 5th of the previous year Sullivan was born. We decided to have a duo birthday party to celebrate Asher's 2nd and Sullivan's 1st at my sister's house this past Saturday.

After brainstorming ideas or should I say searching on Pinterest, we decided to have a Circus party theme. Games for the kids, conversation and drinks for the adults, then food and cake for everyone. On the menu we had hot dogs and chips, ring toss pasta salad, fresh squeezed lemonade, popcorn, cotton candy and fruit on a stick.

I think it was a great hit, everyone seemed to have lots of fun including the birthday boys. By the time the party was over, we had way to many gifts and two very tired little boys and exhausted mommies. Here's some shots of all the decorations and fun. Sorry for the overload of pictures, videos to come!

12 months old

Even though I already did a one year post, I have one more traditional monthly post to squeeze in. Every month I've taken Sullivan's picture next to magnetic letters. This is the final month and although I'm sad for it to end I'm also really happy because it is very difficult to get a picture taken now days without him grabbing the board. If you'd like to reflect back on previous months just look on the right side of my blog towards the bottom. You will see a tab called labels and click on the months old.

Favorites at 12 months:

  • Hiding things, hiding himself (he loves hide and go seek)
  • Steamed broccoli and cooked carrots are his favorite veggies
  • He loves almost any fruit, most favorite right now is grapes and mandarin oranges
  • loves cheese and black olives too
  • favorite toy....his books or his new chair
Sullivan has 6 teeth with more on the way and loves to walk around things. This past weekend he took 4 steps. I'm pretty sure he can walk but just chooses not too because he know we want him to. Time will tell.

Year One

Today we celebrate the birth of Sullivan Lorimer Nelson. One year ago today at 4:11 am our lives changed forever. Our beautiful little boy was brought into our lives to teach us a whole new meaning of love. As we've watched him grow day by day, he continues to amaze us and often I thank God for such a perfect child. Sullivan is definitely the joy of Mike and I's lives.
Although this year has gone by fast, we have so many pictures, blog posts, and videos to remember all the little things in his life leading up to the one year mark. Today we start a new chapter, we continue to document Sullivan's live as a one year old with more pictures, videos and blog posts. I can't wait to celebrate the day. Happy Birthday dear Sullivan. Mommy and Daddy love you very much....

July 4th 2013

Yesterday we celebrated the 4th of July in my hometown. It was such a beautiful day with the nice weather and all the beautiful flags on display. We laid low most of the day except for the traditional Festina Parade. Every year a small small town close to Calmar hosts a parade. Here's a couple shots.
